Let me start by stating a well-known fact: temperature is something that must be taken into consideration when wearing clothes.
Well, regardless of clothes, you can't have a snowball fight in the middle of summer, and shaved ice in the freezing winter is just going to cause a headache.
To explain why I am talking about this, I am writing this at the beginning of June and the temperature is still unstable.
It's a climate where you'll sweat if you walk outside during the day, but once the sun goes down it gets chilly without a jacket.
(However, there is a hotel nearby where many foreigners are staying, and I'm impressed by how tough everyone there is, wearing short sleeves and shorts all day.)
There is an image that many people who enjoy fashion don't like summer.
On hot summer days, the number of clothes you can physically wear is reduced, which means it's difficult to enjoy fashion, and I personally feel the same way.
With the temperature affecting my entire day, I'm in the mood for a shirt.
We've heard from many customers that they don't want to wear short sleeves just yet, and we understand that they just don't feel like buying outerwear.
Shirts are great. They are a staple item in menswear, and for someone like me who doesn't like to wear clothes that are too casual, the classic look of a shirt with a collar makes me feel like I'm standing up straight.
(I've been buying nothing but shirts lately. In fact, I've only been buying shirts...)
However, I don't want to propose something too classic to the people who come to THE ELEPHANT. I think they want to have something a little different.
In that respect, MARINA YEE 's shirts would fit the current mood.
MARINA YEE is a Belgian fashion brand, and when talking about her, one thing that cannot be left out is the legendary Antwerp Six from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
Well-known examples include Dries Van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester, and Walter Van Beirendonck.
(There are many documents about this area, so many people probably already know about it.)
She hasn't been in the fashion industry forever, and in fact only started presenting her collections in 2018.
However, even during his time away from the industry, he remains active, making clothes for his daughter and running a coffee shop.
She creates clothes freely without being asked any questions.
This time, THE ELEPHANT chose two types of shirts.
The first one is
M.Y. SHIRT 5 OVERSIZED "ORIGAMI" SHIRT
As you can see, the bold stripes are not evenly spaced, but they are drawn in blue and white like London stripes, giving the viewer a refreshing impression.
Rather than being simply described as "refreshing," the unique pattern of the shirt itself is reminiscent of anti-classicism.
"ORIGAMI" is also written in the product name
Of course, the inspiration comes from the Japanese art of origami, and in the case of this shirt, the fabric on the front is folded and sewn together like origami, creating a silhouette that only MARINA YEE could achieve.
This is an oversized shirt with relaxed shoulders and a long length, but the thick cuffs stay firmly in place around the wrists, so it doesn't look too casual.
Stripes are my favorite pattern, so this was a piece I really wanted to have in the store when I purchased this item.
The second one is
M.Y. SHIRT 1 OVERSIZED SHIRT
This one is a slightly glossy black color with black buttons, giving it a more chic and quiet impression.
The most attractive feature is undoubtedly the cufflinks.
The wide cuffs cover the back of the hands like a poncho, giving a mysterious image.
I also like how the asymmetrically placed buttons on the cuffs allow the garment to be worn in any way you like, which is very MARINA YEE-like.
It's the complete opposite of the stripes from earlier, but it keeps the rest of the design simple and puts together nicely.
A black shirt. Wearing black in the summer may seem oppressive at first glance, but once you slip your arms through the smooth 100% cotton fabric, you'll want to wear it even when the temperature rises.

The two shirts are different in color, pattern, and details, but each one has an antithesis that can only be expressed by itself. Of course, there are classic elements, but this twisted clothing is sure to break the conventional concept of shirts.
You can wear it by itself in the coming season, or use it as a jacket and tie it around your waist when it gets hot.
I think it has meaning because people are free to wear MARINA YEE's free-spirited clothes.
